Congratulations to Jack Smith from the 1997 age group has made the West Region development squad.

Our aim is to provide a platform for local children to improve their football skills, ability, communication and team work skills.

We want to encourage the children to have a positive attitude to both football and life, free from prejudice, discrimination or bigotry.

We want to create a club that can be the pride of the area where the kid’s development is the focus of all our efforts.

Where both children and parents associated with the club are proud to be.

We see this as a long term project to build a great future for all associated with the club.

Training

Training will be held on a Wednesday evening from 6.00pm till 7.30pm at Stepford Sports Ground, Edinburgh Road all the year round commencing 17 August 2006. Training until August will be at Barrachnie park.

Training tops, Shorts & Socks will be provided free of charge by the club for all players and players will be expected to wear this kit at all training sessions. It will not be permitted form players to wear the clubs training kit in their own time.

Equipment

Players should remember that Stepford Sports Ground is an astroturf pitch and suitable footwear should be worn. All other equipment is provided by the club. Shin guards should be worn for all training and match sessions.

Conduct

Players are reminded that they are representing East End Thistle and their conduct should be one of respect for their team-mates, officials and the opposition. Swearing, fighting, dissent and bad behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Players with bad discipline records will not be allowed to continue within the development programme.

Players who misbehave at training should start as sub on match days and this should be identified to all players each week. If player continue to misbehave parents should be informed.

Playing

All teams will be set up to have equal ability. This may result in one or two players being moved from one team to another (within their own age group) especially at the beginning of the season. This is to ensure no team is better than the other and no player is deemed better than another.

The club committee will review results to ensure this is adhered to.

The teams will play in the latest Nike full Brazil strip with our main sponsors name on the front.

Costs

All training equipment, club bags and track suits will be provided free of charge.

Fun Days

We will arrange fun days throughout the year providing opportunity for players to participate in team building events and football days with other teams. There will be an end of year presentation for each child by way of thanking them for participating which will be provided free.

Keeping Informed

We will advise you of match day arrangements on training nights or by phone if necessary. Our aim is to contact you before travel to games which have been postponed due to inclement weather etc. Our coaches will maintain your contact details for this. In addition we will issue, periodically, newsletters keeping you informed of the players and clubs progress.

All club fixtures will be issued to all parents at the beginning of the season to inform you where and who we are playing. Additionally, all Home fixtures will be issued on a separate template which will also identify what time you will be playing at for all home fixtures for the season.

Treasury

Statements of income and outgoings will be provided to all parents on a bimonthly basis with all cash accounted for and re deployed into the players development. All coaches, who are SFA qualified and experienced, and administration is provided on a voluntary basis to the club.

Parents Code Of Conduct

As a parent you play a special role in contributing to the needs and development of young players. Through your encouragement and good example, you can help assure that all players learn good sportsmanship and self-discipline.

Support your Child

Supporting your child by giving encouragement and showing interest in their team is very important. Help your child work toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game and coaching session. Teach your child that hard work and honest effort are often more important than victory – that way your child will always be a winner despite the outcome of the game.

Always be Positive

Parents serve as role models for their children. Become aware of this and work to be a positive role model. Applaud good play by your child’s team as well as good play by the opposing team.

Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from youth initiative activities.

Remember: Your Child Wants to Have Fun

Remember: that your child is the one playing football

… Not you.

It is very important to let children establish their own goals – to play the game themselves. This is part of the learning process, which we at East End Thistle are actively trying to encourage. Let the players express themselves on the field of play with no fear of rebuke from the sidelines.

Reinforce Positive Behaviour Positive reinforcement is the best way to help your child achieve their goals and their natural fear of failure. Nobody likes to make mistakes. If a child on the team or especially your child does make one, remember its all part of learning, so encourage your child’s efforts and point out the good things your child accomplished.

Don’t be a Sideline Coach or Referee

Coaches spend a great deal of time in preparation work, which players do not see. They work in order to make your child’s youth football experience a positive one. Referees decisions are not always correct but they must be respected at all times. That means refraining from coaching or refereeing from the sidelines, let the coaches do their job.

In the event that the team coaches see or hear negative coaching by parents at the side of the pitch or other parents chastising or abusing any player on the field of play, their child will be removed from the game. Serious repercussions will ultimately ensue as to whether your child will continue to enjoy their football development at East End Thistle.

DO NOT SPOIL YOUR CHILDS FOOTBALL EDUCATION AND ENJOYMENT.

LET THEM PLAY!
